30. The Fonda Theatre
Hollywood, CA
The Henry Fonda Theatre is a 863-seat theatre that opened its doors in 1926 as the Carter DeHaven Music Box, specializing in Broadway-style musical comedies. This grand old auditorium was converted to a movie theatre in the 1940s when live theatre no longer attracted the local nightlife. Its neo-Spanish interior has gone from stage to screen and back to stage again. It was restored to its original splendor and named after actor Henry Fonda, who is now classified as the 'sixth-greatest male star of all time' by the American Film Institute.
