The Godfather I and II
118th Street and Pleasant AveThe Godfather I and II
13. 118th Street and Pleasant Ave118th street is where Sonny attacks Carlo for beating Connie. It's also where they filmed the scene with the most famous technical mistakes. The most obvious blooper is when Sonny punches Carlo, but clearly misses. You can hear the punch in the film, but it is obvious that he does not actually touch Carlo. This mistake has been parodied several times. Although the scene used stuntmen, Gianni Russo (Carlo) suffered two cracked ribs and a chipped elbow. The location was chosen because it captured the essence of how people were living and enjoying their time. For instance, you see the children playing in the water spraying from the fire hydrant and Carlo listening to the game with his fellow business associates on the front steps. Coppola filmed this scene to make people believe that Sonny was actually going to kill Carlo, until Sonny says that if Carlo touches Connie again, he will kill him.
