The Godfather I and II
Americana Hotel: ManhattanThe Godfather I and II
16. Americana Hotel: ManhattanLocated in Manhattan, the Las Vegas meeting scene is filmed in the Americana Hotel. Due to the limited budget, Coppola could not film in Las Vegas, so he filmed the meeting between Mo Green and Michael here. The exterior shots of Las Vegas were taken from stock footage. Pay close attention when watching this scene and if you look at the people in the hotel lobby of the Flamingo, there are two people in hippie attire. This style was not yet appropriate for the time period of The Godfather. Another interesting thing to note is that when Fredo exits the car, it is not the actor John Cazale, but an extra that cost less to film. Other bloopers to notice in this scene are when Michael takes out a lighter and a cigarette twice, and when Fredo removes his sunglasses twice.
