Portland Ghosts
Cathedral ParkPortland Ghosts
6. Cathedral ParkCathedral Park is located just under the St. Johns Bridge, connecting North and Northwest Portland. The park gets its name from the massive, church-like supports of the bridge that litter the landscape. In 1949, a teenager named Thelma Taylor worked at a bean farm in Hillsboro. Every day, a truck would pick her up and take her to work. One day, however, she was kidnapped before the truck could come. Her broken body was found under the St. Johns Bridge several days later, hidden in brush and overgrowth. According to police reports, Thelma's screaming can still be heard coming from this park. The police have investigated several times, only to find the park dark but empty. In addition to screams, there are dark shadows and heavy feelings beneath the bridge supports. Poor Thelma Taylor appears to still be there, crying out for the help that can never come.
