The Forsyth Park Inn, built in 1893, is regarded as one of the most beautiful bed and breakfasts in Savannah. The home's architecture reflects various styles from the 19th and 20th century, giving it a beautiful and historical touch. But all that glitters is not gold, for a young girl, who was barely fourteen when she drew her final breath, haunts this pristine inn. Her name is Lottie Churchill. Lottie was adopted by the Churchill family in 1899. She was welcomed into the family with open arms and became close with Anna, the sister of her adoptive parents. Anna was very sick, but her illness did not stop her from treating Lottie like a daughter, and Lottie loved Anna immensely. One night as Lottie was walking through the house, she accidentally walked in on her adoptive father embracing Anna. Lottie was shocked. She was restless and stayed up for many nights, wondering what to do. If she told, she knew that she would ruin the relationship between her adoptive mother and father, and Lottie did not want to rip her new family apart. But Lottie thought she had a clever solution. One morning, Lottie fixed a cup of tea for her adoptive mother and Anna. Anna's tea, however, contained poison, and she collapsed dead after a few drinks of tea. Lottie rejoiced in her success, but her jubilation ended when she learned a horrible truth. Anna was not just her adoptive mother's sister. Anna was her mother! Lottie couldn't live with herself. Her guilt and shame washed over her, poisoning her spirit. Lottie was committed to an insane asylum, where she remained until her final days. The sad and ashamed ghost of Lottie Churchill still roams the Forsyth Inn. The hotel owners and guests see the little girl walking the halls, and disappearing when she realizes she has an audience. Outside, you might find her walking in the garden, visiting the place where she murdered her own mother. Be careful, because Lottie is known to open doors and toss your keys out of the room. Or, she might enter your room one night and turn on the television. If you have any mercy in your heart, be kind and show pity on her restless spirit, for she is truly a lost soul.
