When Marie gives Skyler an expensive baby tiara at Skyler’s baby shower, the financially worried matriarch vows to return the extravagant gift to put the money to a more practical use, a diaper genie. She estimates that the tiara must be worth over $500. But when she attempts to return it at Gertrude Zachary she is accused of stealing the tiara, originally pilfered by Marie, revealing one of Marie’s dirty secrets. When Skyler is detained in a back room by management the audience sees for the first time Skyler’s own scheming side when she threatens to call the local TV station and report that she, a pregnant woman, was harassed. When she fakes labor pains it is too much for the frightened store owner to bear and he lets her go. These scenes were actually filmed in this Gertrude Zachary store in Albuquerque; the local jewelry chain was started by Albuquerque businesswoman Gertrude Zachary who passed away recently in 2013 at the age of 75.
