4. J.P. Wynne High School

As a youngster, Vince Gilligan attended a school in Virginia called J.P. Wynne Campus School, which led him name the high school where Walt taught after his old elementary school. This is where Walt is employed as a chemistry teacher, where Walt first meets Jesse when Jesse is a student, and where Walt Jr. is a student throughout the show. In the show this is where Walt gives his chemistry lessons, hiding his second cell phone in the ceiling, which goes off during class much to Walt's chagrin. The school also holds a school-wide meeting in the gymnasium after the Wayfarer 515 disaster where Walt rationalizes away some of his guilt for the disaster by downplaying the severity of the crash where 167 people were killed. Although J.P. Wynne is not a real high school, many of the exterior and gymnasium shots were filmed at other high schools and community colleges in the area. The gymnasium interiors specifically were filmed at Highland High School located at 4700 Coal Ave. SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108, and the interiors for the chemistry classroom and the lab storage room were filmed in the Scimatics Building at Rio Rancho High School located at 301 Loma Colorado NE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124.
