This humble residence is where Walter White began his transformation from consummate family man and chemistry teacher to meth kingpin, Heisenberg. The symbolism in this mundane location lies in the idea that anyone who is desperate enough can and will do whatever it takes to protect their own. Unfortunately for Walt, his ambition becomes his own addiction and Heisenberg's Chrysler 300 SRT8 replaces the family Aztec, which sits in the driveway in earlier seasons. Today, a family vehicle sits in the driveway of Fran Padilla, who has owned the house since 1973. According to Fran, Breaking Bad creator, Vince Gilligan, was scoping the neighborhood for locations and when he saw the house he knew immediately that it was the one. When asked if she wanted her house to be in a pilot Fran wittily quipped, "Do you want to buy a bridge in Brooklyn?" While a replica of the interior was built on a sound stage, the pool where Walt fishes out the pink teddy bear from the plane collision and where Skyler has her melt down is the Padilla's actual pool. When you visit the house don't be surprised if you see other Breaking Bad fans, as Fran has estimated that 200 people a week make the pilgrimage to the place where it all began. But please, don't throw any pizzas on the roof. [Photo Credit: Megan Eaves]
