Barely five minutes into the first episode of Season 7 of Supernatural, Castiel is in heaven. He’s declared himself the new ruler and that he will now be the one to lead everyone. As he’s walking around in an open field Castiel gives a speech about his new views. He then stops walking and pauses as if he’s in deep contemplation for a second before he speaks again. “Be obedient, children, or this will be your fate.” Castiel then looks down into the dead face of an angel. Then the camera pulls up to give a wider view, and Castiel is surrounded by dead angels. The outlines of their wings burned into the grass as they smoke in the mid-afternoon sun. Aberthau Cultural Centre is better known as the West Grey Community Centre. There is, however, the Aberthau Mansion that is made in the Tudor Revival style. Originally, the mansion was actually named Rear House and was owned by the man James Rear. The architect Malcure at the time was commissioned to design the home in 1909. Between 1910-1913 construction was done over a four year period in order to complete the house. In 1918, five years after the building was completed, David Spencer came into possession of the mansion. David Spencer was a veteran of not only the First World War but also the Boer War. He chose the name “Aberthau” to re-name his mansion. “Aberthau” is actually a Welsh term which means “a place filled with light.” This is a very fitting term for a community center, and ironic for the part of Supernatural that was filmed there.
