This episode took place in the Crease Clinic area of the Riverview Hospital. Right after the car crash from Season 1, Dean Winchester falls into a coma. He wanders around the hospital, and at first he thinks he’s on a hunt. He keeps finding a creature who seems to be killing people in the hospital before they can be helped. Pretty soon the monster turns its gaze on Dean and begins to hunt him instead. There is one funny scene in this episode where Sam suspects Dean is in the hospital as a spirit wandering the halls. He stands over Dean’s bed as he talks to him. “I think maybe you’re around. And if you are, don’t make fun of me for this, but um…there’s one way we can talk.” Sam then reaches into a paper bag he is holding and takes out an Ouija board. “Oh, you gotta be kidding me.” Dean says with an exasperated look on his face as Sam walks around the spirit of his brother to set the board up. During the course of the episode Riverview Hospital could not have been more fitting. Later in the episode Dean is talking to his grim reaper who comments he is a good soldier. In fact, Riverview Hospital opened in 1934 as a treatment center for veterans. This was during the First World War in order to help heal the soldiers. In 1945 the decision was made to expand the hospital. The hospital re-opened in 1949 as the Crease Clinic. At first the clinic was only use for short-term psychological treatment. However, now it’s used exclusively for film production for shows like Supernatural.
