The first settlers to the Las Vegas Valley in the early 1800s were attracted by the artesian springs that made the desert bloom. They called it Las Vegas, Spanish for "the meadows." It has been a long time since travelers came to Sin City for the beautiful wildflower blooms. Today most of the 40 million visitors head straight for the Las Vegas Strip that is located just out the front door of McCarron International Airport. Our walking tour will begin at the world famous sign that welcomes those visitors.
