Not all venues in Nashville have live music seven nights a week, so if you want to be guaranteed of a live band, then your best is to head to Broadway. Full of its famous honky tonk bars, with a smattering of other themed or novelty bars and acts along the way, Broadway is always awash with the sound of guitars and vocals, whatever night of the week that you visit. As soon as you turn the corner into Broadway, you will immediately be blown away by the vibrant atmosphere of the chaotic, bustling street, where the music from one venue merges directly into the music from the next.In addition to the multitude of venues, there is also an array of busking musicians who create as much of a lively atmosphere outside on the sidewalk as occurs inside the bars. There are also plenty of food trucks and hot dog stalls, where you can pick up a variety of take outs and snacks. Corner street vendors sell bottled water, which proves useful while walking around, particularly during the summer months. You'll also see the occasional yellow pedal tavern making its journey around the strip, driven by a group of tourists or a bachelorette party, all pedaling away in their seats as a bartender serves them for the bar in the center of the vehicle. The Bootlegger's Inn lies at the end of Broadway that is the closest to the Cumberland River and begins the main line of live music venues that runs up this popular street. If you are walking down Second Avenue, you'll see it directly opposite you when you reach the bottom, as Broadway runs to your right. It's a slightly worn down and gray looking building in comparison to its neighboring haunts. There are no bright lights or sparkling signs - just a simple black and white banner advertising that this is where Bootleggers is at. Don't let its appearance put you off as this venue should not be overlooked before you commence your walk up the Broadway strip. The small bar is not as busy as many of the others on Broadway but they have a populated calendar of live music that includes solo artists and local bands, plus highlighted events such as the Welcome to Nashville show and the free Catfish Dinner show. They can cater for private parties too, which is useful if you are visiting with a group of people or for a special occasion. They also have a great whiskey menu, featuring a wide selection including Popcorn Sutton's Tennessee White Whiskey, made with the famous recipe of renowned moonshiner and whiskey legend, Marvin "Popcorn" Sutton. They also make their own moonshine infusions in a multitude of flavors, such as grape and melon, which are well worth a try if you fancy something refreshing and a bit different.
