19. Tootsie's Orchid LoungeThe world famous Tootsie's Orchid Lounge is one of Broadway's most notable venues, having first opened back in 1960, when it was originally called Mom's. It later changed its name after the venue was painted purple - the color of the orchid, owner Tootsie's favorite flower. Even to this day, the front of the venue is still painted the same shade and it proudly stands out against its neighboring bars.Back in its early days, Tootsie's was renowned for its support of struggling musicians and artists, often providing them with a free drink or something to eat to help them while they tried to make a name for themselves on the music scene, while also hosting some the most celebrated acts in country music at the time. Now, over fifty years on, it still has a notable Music City reputation and continues to bring in the hoards of music lovers that wander Broadway every year. As a result, it's an incredibly popular venue and can get extremely busy, but the atmosphere is terrific and, owing to its notable history, it is without a doubt, must visit location on the strip.
