626 11th Avenue New York, NY 10036 The Landmark Tavern was opened in 1868 by Patrick Henry Carley and, at the time, sat on what was the shores of the Hudson River. The above two floors above the tavern served as a home for his family until Prohibition, when the third floor was turned into a speakeasy. Rumor has it that a few ghosts haven't been able to part with the building. A Confederate Civil War soldier was stabbed during a fight and made his way up to a bathtub on the second floor where he died. The same bathtub reportedly still remains. A little Irish immigrant girl who died in her bed on the third floor is still believed to wander around her former home. George Raft, an actor and dancer during the 30s and 40s, had such a love for the place that he chose to remain after his death. The next time you're at the Landmark Tavern, listen closely for out of place footsteps and keep an eye out for strange happenings. You may be one of the lucky few the Landmark Tavern ghosts will appear to. http://www.thelandmarktavern.org/ Photo Credit: Jazz Guy http://www.flickr.com/photos/flickr4jazz/3032601857/
