59th Street New York, NY 10023 Wollman Rink is a must-visit spot in New York City, especially during the holiday season. Located in Central Park, there's more than enough stunning scenery to look at. It opened in 1949, stays open from October to April, and has been the scene for many happy people gliding across the ice. Two such ladies who were said to do just that were Janet and Rosetta Van der Voort, sisters who lived in New York during the 1800s. Their father was allegedly so overbearing, that they weren't able to go anywhere unaccompanied except to the skating rink. They died as spinsters, some say due to the father never approving of any suitors while others believe the sisters were so close they felt as though they didn't need husbands. They died in 1880 a month apart, and it seems as if they're equally close in death. Janet and Rosetta are said to skate across the ice together in red and purple dresses. There have been many who have reportedly seen the pair and noticed that they could see the other skaters right through them. Some have said they saw the sisters as they were in younger years while others say they are visible as their elderly selves. Are you ready to skate with the dead at Wollman Rink this winter?
