12. Museum of Modern ArtWhen Carrie spills the beans about her engagement to the girls, they are dining at the Modern, the restaurant in the Museum of Modern Art. The museum houses not only modern art (it's widely considered the most influential modern art museum in the world), but also a film collection numbering over 22,000 and 4 million film stills. The museum also features architecture, design, photography, illustrated books, and electronic media. The museum first opened in 1929, when it was located at Fifth Avenue and 57th Street. Today you can see works by Monet, Van Gogh, Cezanne, Gauguin, and Picasso, among others. The Modern restaurant is not your average museum gift shop snack bar. It features fine dining, French-American cuisine, and is designed in the Bauhaus style. It is open, light-filled, and faces 31 sculptures in the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden. Even the furniture and tableware are modern, created by some of the best modern designers.
