Leaving Golden Gate Park, the next stop on the tour is the UCSF Medical Center. The hospital is affiliated with the University of California, San Francisco and is a topped ranked hospital in the United States. However, with all the awards, the medical center is still a hospital, and even the best hospitals in the world carry particular tragedies that are unavoidable. Hospitals are places where traumatic events end. Victims of horrible accidents, brutal confrontations, or natural occurrences take their last breaths in hospitals, so it is no wonder that the biggest hospital in San Francisco is rumored to have figures of dead patients roaming the halls late at night. There are particular sections of the hospital that are said to be particularly haunted, yet there is very little known about the victims or the ghosts who do the haunting. It is said that the Intensive Care Nursery is especially haunted. Women who died during childbirth roam the halls and then disappear into walls. Another part of the hospital that is said to be haunted is the pediatric ward on the eighth floor. It is also rumored that the hauntings from the children that stay on the eighth floor became so frequent and so terrifying that the area had to be exorcised. Hospitals are very busy places at time, but when they quiet down, and there is not the rush of doctors and nurses moving charts and checking on patients, the eerie atmosphere sets in, and at UCSF Medical Center, women who never lived to hold their babies and children who never lived to grow up roam the halls, just waiting to be discharged so they may go home to their families and loved ones.
