John and Jackie Kennedy lived here from 1957 through John Kennedy'?s 1960 Presidential Campaign. John Kennedy made this his home in his final several years as Senator from Massachusetts, and then as a base to launch his presidential candidacy in primary elections in early 1960, and the general election campaign, beating Richard Nixon that November. The Kennedys moved out and into the White House on the day of Kennedy's inauguration, January 20, 1961, the day of Kennedy's famous '?ask not what your country can do for you' speech.
