From Tudor Place, walk east on Avon Lane and turn left at the intersection onto Avon Place. Walk uphill to R Street and turn right. Walk three blocks to the entrance to Oak Hill Cemetery. Oak Hill Cemetery was built in 1844, under the direction of Georgetown banker and politician, William Wilson Corcoran. The cemetery is the final home of many prominent Washington residents of the 19th century, including Civil War generals, political figures and business people.
