There's Always a Reason to Salsa in Miami- Particularly in Little Havana
Did you know that on the day of Fidel Castro's death, Little Havana exploded? A 3-day festival celebrating the old man's "entry to Hell"- it got so out of hand that the National Guard was almost called in.
The day Fidel Castro waltzed into Cuba's Capital was the very same day that Little Havana was created. During the first years of the Castro regime, thousands fled the island- exiles who had had enough of the rampant violence, the persecutions, the insanity that the man had brought to their lives. Today, Little Havana is a cultural masterpiece. The cultural and political capital of "free Cubans" in the world. A place where that island's traditions live on, where they perservere. Enter its streets and bask in the majesty of an age-old culture, one full of drinks, laughter, and a fighting spirit that yearns, years later, to once more overtake their island and free their people.
"Some of the stories brought tears to my eyes. Families ripped apart, soldiers and rebels betrayed- not only by their country, but by our own. It really gives you a whole new perspective on Latin American politics and social issues."
