Welcome Traveler! You have crossed the threshold into a world of strange noises and heavy feelings of dread. Capt Tony's Saloon is not for the faint of heart. Pull up a bar stool and listen to the eerie but absolutely true tales of the unlucky tortured souls that remain inside these walls. If you dare. Many years before this bar became the famous Key West watering hole that it is today it was the city morgue. That's right. Thousands of dead have traveled in and out of these doors. The same doors in which you entered and from which you will hopefully escape. Some of the dead visitors to these grounds lost their lives at the hand of a vicious murderer. Some of them succumbed to disease. Some were hanged for horrible and heinous crimes. All of them walk these halls looking for something or someone. Perhaps they all share their secrets from the grave with you but you must not let them sense your fear or all will be lost! Long ago, the morgue's resident mortician was so overcome by grief at the untimely death of his beloved daughter that he buried her within the walls of the morgue. He wanted to keep her near him even in death. Her precious headstone remains visible in what is now the billiards room but beware! It seems that the mortician and his daughter did not meet in the afterlife. He continues to roam these rooms in search of his long lost child. Don't let him catch you standing on her headstone or you might wind up right beside her. Strange and unexplainable things happen in these very restrooms. All too often, patrons are locked inside because doorknobs suddenly become impossible to turn. When that happens, guests face their worst fears. Alone and without the comfort of another living soul. Unable to unlock the door or turn the handle they are held hostage until an unseen hand turns the bolt and allows them to escape. Many people believe these pranksters are the souls of those who envy our earthly freedom to roam because they are cursed to spend eternity within these walls. Be on the lookout for their icy grip. You'll notice the large tree growing right out of the floor and out through the roof. It was known as the Hanging Tree and once stood just outside the doors of the morgue. On this very spot convicted pirates and murderers were hung until death came to collect their very souls. One of those who lost their lives here was a woman convicted of the brutal and vicious murder of her adoring husband. "The Lady in Grey" is often seen wandering the grounds wearing the same grey nightgown in which she was hung. Many believe she is searching for her next husband. Gentlemen, beware! Capt Tony's Saloon holds many secrets. Many who have died wander these corridors in search of peace or justice. Mind your step and watch your back!
