Welcome to Marrero's Guest Mansion where you're sure to be greeted by both the living and the dead. Francisco Marrero fell in love with Enriquetta, the woman of his dreams. A prominent and wealthy cigar maker, he built her a mansion in 1889. He hoped that his magnificent mansion would lure her to Key West. His plan was a success and she moved to Key West to start their life together. They lived happily in their home where Enriquetta blessed him with eight children. Upon his death, Enriquetta and her eight children were evicted from the house and tossed into the street. It seemed that Francisco neglected to mention that he had a wife in his homeland of Cuba and she was the rightful heir to the home. As Enriquetta left her beloved home for the last time, she made a chilling announcement to the small crowd that had gathered. She assured them that the house was rightfully hers and that as God as her witness she would remain there in spirit. Apparently, she was telling the truth. The home is now a bed and breakfast and Enriquetta considers herself to be your hostess. You can be sure she's near when you smell the fragrance of lavender perfume; her trademark scent. If Enriquetta takes a dislike to you for whatever reason, she lets you know of her displeasure by swaying the chandelier in the main hall. Take notice. If you see the chandelier swaying, you've been warned. Enriquetta seems partial to room eighteen. If you're brave enough to stay in that particular room, you are likely to wake in the night to find her sitting on the edge of your bed. She likes hair brushes too and guests often report them missing. Book a room at the Marrero Guest House and you might get more than you bargained for.
