The people that were hanged across the street in Wright Square needed to be buried. You are looking at the burial ground for those hanged- resting right under the Lindsay & Morgan Company Building and the other buildings next to it on this block, which were built on top of the burial ground. The third and fourth floors of the Lindsay & Morgan Company Building are empty because the tenants keep breaking the lease within a month, reportedly because of the hauntings that occur there. One evening, one of the tenants heard a lot of loud movement coming from downstairs, like furniture was being moved around. When mentioned to the shopkeeper on the first floor, the shopkeeper replied that no one was in the store all night. Others have heard footsteps come up the stairs, stop at their door, and give three loud knocks. When they would open the door, no one was there...but when they would look out to see who knocked and left, they would hear the footsteps continue behind them, into their apartment, with the sound of nails scratching on both sides of the walls behind them. Little did the residents know, but the evening's really strange activates were about to begin. Even when residents stopped opening the door, the door handle would turn, and the door would open. One night, a couple had fled the apartment and met the police on their way out, saying that someone was in their apartment. The police found nothing, but the couple found a reason to move out and left that night. 13. Juliette Gordon Low House 32.076954,-81.092603 This is the home of Juliette Gordon Low, the founder of the girl scouts. What a glorious place to be a ghost! But the woman that lived here before Juliette's family reportedly still haunts the house. One day, a group of girl scouts started screaming hysterically in one of the rooms. When one of the volunteers rushed to the room to see what was wrong, the girls described a woman wearing 19th century clothes that had entered the room and vanished... except for her head, which remained floating in the air and looking at the girls. There are often sightings of a ghost standing in the house's front doorway. Another passerby reported seeing someone pull the blinds apart and sneer outside before vanishing into a mist. Whatever the story, we can all agree that haunting girl scouts would make for great entertainment for any ghost.
