2. Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festi

The very first Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival was held in 1924. The purpose of the festival was to celebrate springtime in the Shenandoah Valley and to promote tourism. What began as a one-day event has grown into a series of more than 30 spectacular events spread over 9 days, including two weekends in late April and early May. The festival is one of the oldest civic celebrations in Virginia and one of the premier events in the Eastern United States. Planning for the festival takes place all year long at the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival Headquarters. The festival includes band competitions, dances, luncheons, the world’s largest fire fighters’ parade, a Grand Feature Parade, a circus, a 10K race, a carnival, celebrities, a reigning queen, Weekend in the Park featuring hundreds of crafters, and much more.
