A haunted city like Akron wouldn't be complete without a sprawling, gothic cemetery, complete with its own resident spookiness. A lady in white has often been seen wandering the several acres of forest at the back of the cemetery. A restless resident? None seem to know for sure, as the mist that hangs over the cemetery at night obscures even the most sought after of secrets. The flashing of odd, unearthly bright lights has also been reported near the cemetery's Jewish section. The cemetery was originally established in the 1920s, though there are reports of burials that took place even earlier. Rose Hill was named after a nursery and gardens that had occupied the same location. Over the past century, many of Akron's most notable citizens have been buried here, and the cemetery has grown to be the largest private cemetery in the region. If you're brave enough, visit Rose Hill in the dead of night, where you may witness a deep, misty fog rolling in, and observe many of the park's lost souls roaming free of their physical bodies.
