The Hard Rock Cafe first opened in June 1971 in London, England under the ownership of young Americans Peter Morton and Isaac Tigrett. It initially had an eclectic decor, but later boasted a display of a wide array of rock and roll memorabilia. The restaurant is located in more than 50 countries. Most of its displayed memorabilia are donations, but there are also auction purchases, such as rare photographs, costumes from world tours, and autographed guitars. The Seminole Tribe of Florida acquired Hard Rock International Inc. in March 2007 for $965 million, and continued the Cafe's expansion. This specific location is one of HRC's latest concept-driven designs developed to integrate technology with new and unique interactive experiences for guests to deliver a world class menu in an atmosphere that rocks your socks off. Live music, a vibrant bar, spacious seating, and two Rock Shops are featured in this 20,000 square foot cafe, just steps away from the Dolby Theatre and the Hollywood & Highland Center. The hands-on experience includes a 18ft by 4ft Rock Wall, touch screens in booths throughout the restaurant, and a Microsoft Surface that allows fans to explore and virtually tour all HRC venues worldwide as well their enormous collection of rock and roll memorabilia. Key items on display here are Jimi Hendrix's purple crushed velvet hat, Janis Joplin's love letter to then boyfriend Peter LeBlanc, Jim Morrison's leather pants and handwritten lyrics to L.A. Woman, Katy Perry's sparkly dress and Fergie's tour outfit. With a traditional yet casual ambiance, diners can choose from a selection of steaks, burgers, pizza, sandwiches and salads made in house.
