A Hollywood Journey
Ripley's MuseumA Hollywood Journey
11. Ripley's MuseumHow can you miss this unflinching landmark dinosaur dangling a clock from its mouth just around the corner from the Max Factor building! Originally, this was a four-story office and apartment building built by Charles Edward Toberman before 1920. Toberman was the town's busiest developer and in his long-time career became known as "Mr. Hollywood." In 1935, the top three stories were cut off to create a one-story building where Bank of America's Hollywood branch operated for many years. Ripley's Believe It or Not! is a franchise with more than 30 auditoriums around the world founded by Robert Ripley, an American cartoonist, entrepreneur and amateur anthropologist. All museums artifacts deal with bizarre events and items. The Ripley collection includes 20,000 photographs, 30,000 artifacts and more than 100,000 cartoon panels. The collection proved so popular that they were featured on radio and television, and in comic books and a book series.
