The Heathman HotelPortland Ghosts
13. The Heathman HotelIn downtown Portland, you will find the acclaimed Heathman Hotel. It has been open on-and-off since 1927, catering to the upper class and fabulously wealthy. The area in which it was located was a center of nightlife and entertainment in the early years of the hotel. By the 1950s, however, the economy had declined and businesses fled to the suburbs, and the hotel was converted into low-income housing. After a long series of renovations and restorations, the Heathman Hotel reopened to its former grandeur. The building has indeed come full circle. It is now considered one of the top 500 hotels in the world, so it only makes sense that it is not only living people that want to stay at the Heathman. Many guests have reported items being moved around within their rooms. Sometimes full glasses of water will be empty when the guests return. One would think this could be because of mischievous maids or bellhops, but the rooms can only be accessed by key card, the use of which is monitored via computer. The activity doesn't necessarily seem malicious, just aggravating at worst. Rooms that end in “03” (1003, 903, 803, etc.) appear to have the most paranormal activity. A psychic once said this phenomenon was because a man jumped to his death from either the roof or the top floor, so his energy can be felt in all the rooms he fell pat on the way to the ground. In these rooms, people have reported seeing dark shadows and distorted faces, and heard various noises from moans to screams. [Photo: Ulmanor at en.wikipedia]
