1. Tyler GardenWelcome to the Tyler Garden. The Tyler Garden was dedicated in 2004 and shows three busts of prominent members of the Tyler family. Lyon Tyler, the 17th president of William and Mary; his father, the 10th President of the United States, John Tyler, who was rector and chancellor of the college; and Lyon Tyler's grandfather, John Tyler, the 18th governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Tyler family's connection to William and Mary began in 1704 when the grandfather of U.S. President John Tyler, also named John Tyler, attended the college. In total, about 30 members of the Tyler family have attended William and Mary. While there aren't any haunted stories to tell you, we have a fun activity for you instead. Stand directly in front of the center Tyler bust and make sure to place your feet together and exactly within the center of the bricks that form a cross in the center of the garden. This area is shown in the picture by a red arrow and circle. Now, face away from the busts and face the wall behind you and say something out loud. You may hear someone talking back to you.
