Michael's Lake Tahoe home was filmed here. The home is called Fleur du Lac, and is the old Henry Kaiser estate. It is now a part of a gated community on the west side of Lake Tahoe. The exterior shots were filmed at the estate, but the interior of the home was filmed at Paramount Studios. This lavish location was used thanks to the sequel's more generous budget. The Godfather had done so well in the box office that Coppola had almost complete control over production and the selection of filming locations.
