The Godfather I and II
Penn Central RailroadThe Godfather I and II
15. Penn Central RailroadLocated at 87 East 42nd Street in New York, New York, the Grand Central Terminal is where one of the most infamous scenes was filmed. This is where Don Vito Corleone meets with the heads of the Five Families to discuss the death of his son Sonny. The exterior of the building where the Five Families meet was actually filmed at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. The boardroom was a more elegant and desirable location for the meeting. When watching this scene, note the oranges in front of Barzini and Tattaglia. It is speculated that oranges indicate death, although no one has confirmed this theory. However, if you pay close attention when oranges make an appearance, they tend to be in the same vicinity of someone who is about to perish. For instance, at the end, Michael orders an execution of the heads of the Five Families. Also, Don Vito Corleone buys a bag of oranges, gets shot, and knocks over an orange strand. Fredo stands next to a basket of oranges in Vito's room, and Don Vito Corleone has an orange peel in his mouth before he has a heart attack.
