The Godfather I and II
The GardenThe Godfather I and II
4. The GardenThe garden is where Carlo and Connie are married. This garden appears in the opening scene of the film, and as anyone can see, it is a large, beautiful, and elaborate garden, perfect for a Sicilian wedding. The garden brings an authentic feel, giving the viewer the sense that this wedding may be taking place in Sicily, although it is in New York. The garden also shows that Don Vito Corleone has an immense amount of wealth, and a large following. The Garden, known for the wedding and the spot where Don Vito Corleone has a fatal heart attack, also serves as one of the most peaceful places in the entire movie. The Garden was used to show the viewers that it is one of Don Corleone's most beloved places. Even though the Garden and the House were already secluded, the crew constructed an eight-foot high faux stone wall made from Styrofoam to further isolate the area. The wedding took place behind this wall, and it took six different cameras to capture the scene.
