Criterion Restaurant located in Piccadilly, London was established in 1874 and has been home to historical celebrations and a long list of infamous patrons. A fitting establishment for Bruce Wayne to own, the walls are covered with gold and marble that surround mosaics, mirrors, and plaques. Bruce Wayne entered the restaurant, sporting his prima ballerina date, and encountered the district attorney Harvey Dent and his long time friend Rachel Dawes. Discussing the Caped Crusader within the elaborate NeoByzantine architecture of the Criterion Restaurant, Bruce is able to personally evaluate the intentions of Gotham's new district attorney. Harvey voices his opinion that "you either die a hero or live long enough to become the villain." The Batman ensures that both of those play out after Harvey's death and the blame of Harvey's crimes shifts to The Batman.
