While upgrading the headquarters of Wayne Enterprises, Bruce Wayne takes the liberty to expand the subbasement level known as the Applied Sciences Division in The Dark Knight. Entering the private elevator of CEO Lucius Fox, we are transported from his high rising office to one of the four levels of McCormick Place West. The West building is one of four state of the art buildings constituting the largest convention center in North America known as McCormick Place which contains a total of 2.6 million square feet of exhibit space. Designed for flexibility and modern convenience, the West Building, was added in 2007, just in time to provide it's Conference Hall for the Applied Science's Warehouse in Nolan's film. Wayne now had plenty of room to accommodate the uniquely difficult demands of the dark knight that were continuing to grow. A section devoted to the development of technology for both the military and police forces, the Applied Science Division of Wayne Enterprises creates several hundred prototypes each year, most of which remain out of commercial use as a one of a kind prototype. Since Bruce Wayne's return to Gotham, he has taken advantage of these moth ball creations, as long as they come in black. Heading the Applied Sciences Division, Lucius Fox has supplied Bruce with the original and improved upon batsuit, the Tumbler accompanied with the Bat Pod, and an array of equipment catered to any special needs the caped crusader may have. Particularly in The Dark Knight, Lucius creates a sonar-like high frequency generator that aids in the capture of The Joker, but tempts Bruce's power.
