Dark Knight Trilogy
The BerghoffDark Knight Trilogy
12. The BerghoffThe Berghoff is an infamous Chicago restaurant opened in 1898 and family run until 2006 when it was adopted by Berghoff Catering and Restaurant Group. Classified as "tradition with a twist" the German-American restaurant offers one of the most varied menus in Chicago. Originally opened as a men's only saloon after the success of German immigrant Berghoff's beer during the Chicago World Fair, the gender segregation was dropped in 1969 after women protestors refused to leave the building. During prohibition, the cafe turned into a fully operational restaurant, eventually expanding to encompass four floors complete with a bakery, butchery, and a woodworking shop on site. Offering such variety of services it's not surprising that Gotham gangsters and mob lords chose to convene here on a regular basis in The Dark Knight. It's here that District Attorney Harvey Dent implements his desire for justice by utilizing information gained from accountant Lau in order to arrest and press charges on crime lord Maroni and other gangsters. Lt. Gordon makes the public arrest of Maroni at Berghoff's and accordingly more than five hundred others to be tried and ultimately provide clean streets for over a year in Gotham.
