After the destruction of Wayne Manor in Batman Begins, Bruce claims to rebuild his childhood home brick for brick. Film makers could not have come closer to recreating the original Wayne Manor, known as Mentmore Towers, than the selected location of Wollaton Hall. Used as the design basis for Mentmore Towers, Wollaton Hall was built centuries earlier in 1500 Elizabethan style. Known as the Nottingham Natural History Museum, Wollaton Hall features a wide collection of zoology, geology, and botany available to the public on 500 acres of deer park. The exterior of the building was used in the filming of The Dark Knight Rises, complimented well by the opening scene in which an assemblage commemorating Harvey Dent was being held on Wayne Manor's grounds. A gathering commonly seen outside of Wollaton building, where events such as concerts, festivals, and sporting competitions are held. Bruce Wayne spared no expense in the recreation of Wayne Manor. The building's most impressive feature, it's high central hall, was displayed numerous times in the film. Standing fifty feet high with thirty five feet windows, the hall is made even more imposing with the four towers that surround it. Another attraction is the many cellars and passages dwelling underneath the hall, similar to Bruce Wayne's secret corridors leading to the Batcave. A temporary palace for the Dark Knight, the rebuilt Wayne Manor was left to the orphaned children of Gotham after Batman's disappearance.
