Known for his realism, Director Nolan has provided some of the most amazing stunts throughout the Dark Knight trilogy. The most notable and original of which being Bane's sky jacking. Filmed over the northern most city in the United Kingdom, Inverness, Scotland, the scene exposed the Cairngorm Mountains of the Scottish Highlands. Translating to mean "the mouth of the River Ness," Inverness is regarded as the capital of the highlands and famous for it's proclaimed sightings of the Loch Ness Monster and medieval battles. Director Nolan chose one of the harshest environments in the British Isles to pull off a never before performed stunt. Using four stuntmen to cable the outside of the plane, filmmakers were able to recreate the sky jacking of a small CIA plane by a c130 Hercules Transporter. Two real plans were used at the beginning of the scene until the CIA plane was replaced with a turbo prop that broke apart over the unpopulated land mass below. Viewed as the opening sequence in The Dark Knight Rises, Bane's debut was one of the most memorable highlights of the trilogy. The stunt was able to display Bane's strategic thinking, physical abilities, tactfulness, and pure dedication to his cause.
