Built in 1935 as the Broad Street Station, the subway was renamed Military Park Station which largely attracts commuters and students on the Newark Light Rail. Filmmaker Nolan appreciated the urban feel of Military Park Station and chose this location over a previously selected subway in Pittsburgh for the filming of The Dark Knight Rises. Locals' excitement grew as the signage of the railway system was renamed Gotham Transit Authority, attracting fans and customers to the long hidden subway. "Don't be shy," the Cat encourages, as The Batman teams up with Selina Kyle to come face to face with the tyrant, Bane. After taking safety lessons to navigate the tracks, Anne Hathaway was able to give off a cat-like appearance through her sleek movements as her character Selina Kyle leads Batman to Bane's underground hideout. Blindly following Selina through the dimly lit passage, Batman discovers he has been trapped, but does not back down from the ultimate fight. Hundreds of policeman also scoured the darkened tunnels in search of Bane's hideout, revealed by Detective Blake. It's on these rails that almost the entirety of Gotham City Police Department is trapped underground for days. Filming on the inside of Newark City Hall also took place.
