Filming Locations of Harry Potter
Abbotsbury SwanneryFilming Locations of Harry Potter
1. Abbotsbury SwanneryThe Weasley family home, the Burrow, changed locations in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, this time built in the swampy area around the Abbotsbury Swannery in Dorset. It's the only managed nesting ground of mute swans on the entire planet. You can actually walk amongst the swans, which have become quite accustomed to human visitors. It is situated about 9 miles west of Wymouth on a 2-acre site that often contains as many as 150 mating pairs and more than 600 swans overall. Written records give details of the swannery dating to 1393, but it is believed that Benedictine monks began actively cultivating the swannery as far back as the 1040s. The surrounding Fleet Lagoon, Lyme Bay and Chesil Beach attracts more than 300 varities of waterfowl, making it an important birding site for both tourists and researchers. Visitors can participate in hand feeding the swans at 12:00 noon and 4:00 PM daily.
