41. Millenium BridgeThe Bridge that the Death Eaters destroy in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is London's Millennium Bridge, which was closed soon after it opened in order to further stabilize the footbridge that people felt was a bit shaky. It crosses the River Thames and provides a link to the establishments on the South Bank such as Shakespeare's Globe Theatre. It is owned and cared for by the Bridge House Estates, a charitable trust with oversight from the City of London Corporation. Bridge construction began in 1998 and the opening occurred on June 10, 2000. During its first two days, many pedestrians reported that the bridge swayed uncomfortably, causing it to be nicknamed the Wobbly Bridge. It closed just days after it opened to make modifications that would eliminate any wobbling. It finally reopened in 2002. Its innovative design features a cable suspension system located mostly below the deck of the bridge, giving it a surprisingly shallow profile.
