Filming Locations of Harry Potter
LavenhamFilming Locations of Harry Potter
38. LavenhamWhen Harry feels the need to return to Godric Hollow, his birthplace, in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, the scene was filmed in the village of Lavenham in Suffolk, although it was greatly altered with sets and digital imagery. The village features a 15th century church, many half-timbered medieval cottages, and a circular walk. During medieval times it was recognized as one of the 20 richest settlements in England. Lavenham gained wealth through the wool trade and its blue broadcloth became a well-known export product from the village. The town's wealth is especially seen in its Church of St. Peter and St. Paul, which by all accounts is enormous considering the small size of the village. Its 141-foot high tower has the distinction of being the highest of any village church in England. It also houses a famous collection of Late-Gothic screens and chantries.
