Filming Locations of Harry Potter
City HallFilming Locations of Harry Potter
14. City HallWhen death eaters begin attacking London in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, office workers are shown noticing their appearance in the sky, clearly filmed at London's City Hall on the southern bank of the Thames next to the Tower Bridge. This is the building that houses the Mayor of London and the London Assembly, but those are both different from the Lord Mayor of the City of London. The City of London is the roughly one square-mile area that is the ancient core of London and has its own unique administrative governing structure called the City of London Corporation. Greater London is the larger metropolitan area around this core that includes 32 boroughs in addition to the City of London. The building now serving as City Hall cost £65 million and is rather unique with its shiny, bulbous design. Inside is a circular, suspended staircase that ascends all 10 floors of the building. The viewing deck at the top is sometimes open to the public.
