Filming Locations of Harry Potter
Great Newport StreetFilming Locations of Harry Potter
26. Great Newport StreetIn Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, when the Death Eaters swoop into London, they pass over Trafalgar Square, race up Charing Cross Road, passing the Garrick Theatre and Leicester Square station, then swerve into Great Newport Street where they enter Diagon Alley through a gated alley next to #12 Great Newport Street. Great Newport Street is in the Covent Garden area of London in the City of Westminster. It is a short street that connects Charing Cross Road and St. Martin's Lane. The street features many shops, restaurants and the Arts Theatre, a 347-set venue that opened in 1927, and which was refurbished in 2009. It was in this theatre in August 1955 that a young Peter Hall directed the English-language premiere of Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot, representing an important turning point in British modern theatre.
