The hospital at Hogwarts was shot in the richly vaulted Divinity School at the University of Oxford. In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, this is where the scene was filmed in which Professor McGonagall tries to teach shy Ron how to waltz in preparation for the Yule Ball. In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, it is once again the infirmary where Ron is recovering from being poisoned. The school was erected from 1427–1483 and is the oldest surviving purpose-built building of the university. The ceiling features elaborate lierne vaulting designed by William Orchard in the 1480s. The school is physically attached to the venerable Bodleian Library and is adjacent to the Sheldonian Theatre where students are granted their degrees. The north face of the building that faces Sheldonian Theatre received a makeover in 1669 that included installation of an elaborate door to allow easy access to the theatre.
