Filming Locations of Harry Potter
Piccadilly CircusFilming Locations of Harry Potter
43. Piccadilly CircusIn Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, Hermione brilliantly apparates Harry, Ron, and herself to escape the Death Eaters. They appear in Piccadilly Circus in London's West End at the base of Shaftesbury Avenue at the GAP store. The café from which they narrowly escape was a set, but they then pass through the London Trocadero arcade on Great Windmill Street. This major public space and road junction was built in 1819 to connect Regent and Piccadilly Streets. The "Circus" part of the name comes from the Latin word that means circle. Other streets that come together at the site include Shaftesbury Avenue, the Haymarket, Coventry Street and Glasshouse Street. Because of its status as a major intersection, it has become its own tourist attraction. Charles Dickens described it as London's closest version of the celebrated boulevards of Paris.
