9. Burnham BeechesIn Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, after stealing the horcrux from Dolores Umbridge in the Ministry of Magic, the heroic group narrowly escape into the woods, which is Burnham Beeches in South Buckinghamshire. It is a 540-acre ancient woodland owned by the City of London. Because of its age, it is home to many species, 60 of which are rare or endangered. The area was saved from development by the Kyrle Society, a group who sought o provide books, art and open space for the working class poor. The City of London purchased the land in 1879 and has managed it ever since. Of particular note is the Seven Ways Plain hill fort in the southwestern portion of the parcel of land. It is a rare example of a single rampart earthworks structure dating back to the Late Bronze Age (1550-1200 BC) or Early Iron Age (1200-700 BC).
