Malham CoveFilming Locations of Harry Potter
40. Malham CoveIn Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, after Ron leaves Harry and Hermione in a jealous huff on their sojourn to find horcruxes, the two set up camp on a rocky plateau, where they can make out the strange symbol from the storybook of Beedle the Bard. In real life it's a 260-foot high, 1,000-foot wide cliff outside the village of Malham in North Yorkshire. It is a natural limestone formation that once saw a large waterfall flowing over its edge when the glaciers above it were melting. More than one stream runs underground behind the cliff, and the caves that they formed date back 50,000 years. Water has not fallen over the cove since heavy rains produced substantial floodwaters in the early 1800s.
