Filming Locations of Harry Potter
St. Pancras Railway StationFilming Locations of Harry Potter
51. St. Pancras Railway StationAlthough Platform 9 3/4; scenes are filmed at King's Cross Station, the exterior of the train station is filmed at the St. Pancras station, an elegant structure that opened in 1868 and which features stunning Victorian architecture. The station also makes an appearance in the series' final film. Often called the "cathedral of the railways," it contains two celebrated Victorian era structures. The train shed, when opened in 1868, was at the time the largest single-span structure ever built. The station frontage was composed of the former Midland Grand Hotel, a grand example of Victorian Gothic design, which is now the Renaissance London Hotel and Apartments. Fortunately, the station narrowly escaped demolition in the 1960s and finally received a much-needed overhaul in the 2000s that cost 163,800 million. The Queen attended a ceremony marking the completion of the project.
